One important aspect of photography is giving back.  I am honored to be this week’s featured guest photographer on the blog of Phase One’s Capture One Pro software. As is mentioned in the blog post and in the accompanying video, I switched from Canon to Sony last December. All Sony cameras are packaged with a card to download a free copy of Capture One for Sony. I kept seeing people rave about the superior RAW conversion and image quality, especially in the A7/A7r group. At first, I dismissed the switch as too daunting, but I kept attending live webinars hosted by David Grover. We became friends, and I asked him if he thought a tutorial on how to set up Capture One Pro to more closely mimic the Lightroom interface would be useful. His response was “absolutely”. With his encouragement and hours and hours of applying my knowledge of audio recording to making videos, I created the video tutorial on how to make the move from Lightroom to Capture One Pro 8 Easier.

Again, it’s an honor to be a guest photographer on the Capture One Pro blog and I want to thank Niels, David, Gitte and everyone else at Phase One for this opportunity, and for making such an amazing editing tool for photographers.  Whether you’re a professional or an enthusiast, I’ll think you’ll find that Capture One is a great solution for editing your photos.  If you’ve considered Capture One but dismissed it as too difficult OR If you’ve already made the switch from Lightroom and find that your aren’t as quick, this video might be helpful.  I hope you all like the video and find it useful.

3 steps to an easy switch from Lightroom to Capture One

I am very proud to have been selected by Soctt & Becca Hultman to capture images of the events of their beautiful wedding day.  They exchanged vows at a beautiful Victorian style home in the Estates of Camarillo, CA.  I want to thank Soctt & Becca for entrusting me with this important day and wish them all the best with their new life together.

Fun with a Macro lens…

Some of the most cherrished photos taken at a wedding are the detail shots.  These shots can include the rings, shoes, the cake, invitations, and a myriad of items that often have been contemplated by the bride since she was a little girl.  Well, it’s not just weddings where the use of a great macro lens can produce awesome results.  Check out the photos below of some of the Christmas decorations in our house.  My beautiful bride of 20 years still enjoys contemplating the details of celebrating Christmas at our house.
